Boateng accompanied this summer
On Thursday, a court spokesperson stated that Boateng had to plead at the Munich court on December 10 for allegedly assaulting and wounding. The German Bild and other media also reported on this.
The prosecution's accusation against Boateng was intentional assault. The Bayern defender was suspected of hurting his ex-girlfriend during a dispute during his vacation. The photo reported that Boateng threw a small glass candlestick at the latter. The two have been together for ten years and have two children.
Boateng does not currently intend to comment on this. According to Süddeutsche Zeitung, the Bayern defender explained that this was a private incident caused by a third party's unconfirmed statement.
According to German law, the crime of intentional assault is punishable by a fine or up to 5 years in prison. Before the verdict is issued, the principle of presumption of innocence shall be applied.
According to a court spokesperson, the prosecution against Boateng was filed in February 2019, and the court granted the prosecution in December 2019. However, affected by the epidemic, the possibility of court negotiations was limited, and the closing of the complaint was postponed accordingly.
Boateng started playing for Bayern in 2011 and won the world championship with the German national team in 2014. His contract with Bayern will expire next summer.
